Maya, this is the plan for your new site and custom cake ordering. Read it at your own pace, then approve it at the bottom when it looks right.

Leave a comment right on the page, or tell me what to change and I'll update it.

What changed since v2

  • Online ordering is now a custom cake request form only. The full shop moved to out of scope.
  • Launch moved from June 5 to June 12, so you have a full week to review before we go live.
  • Added a photo shoot at the bakery on May 13, plus a list of the photos we need from you.

Overview

Saltwater Bakery is moving to a new WordPress site that shows off what you bake and makes custom cake orders easy to place.

Today, most custom cake requests arrive as Instagram messages. Details get lost, photos get buried, and Luis and you spend evenings chasing follow-up questions. The new site gives customers one clear place to see your work, read the menu, and send a complete cake request.

The site will be built on WordPress so you can edit menus, hours, and seasonal pages yourself. Your Agency will design, build, and launch it over ten weeks, finishing June 12.

Goals and success

Each goal has a way to tell whether it worked, so we can look back after launch and say so honestly.

Goals

  • Custom cake requests come in through the site instead of Instagram DMs.
  • Customers can find hours, the menu, and the address in under ten seconds.
  • You can update seasonal items and holiday hours without calling us.

How we'll know

  • 20 custom cake requests a month within 90 days of launch.
  • Most requests arrive complete (date, size, flavor, photo), so fewer follow-up questions.
  • You publish your first seasonal page on your own within a month of launch.

Scope (what's included)

  • WordPress block theme in Saltwater's look: your colors, your logo, a warm and simple feel, working well on phones.
  • Core pages: Home, About, Menu, Custom cakes, Gallery, Visit and contact.
  • Menu and seasonal pages you can edit, including a template for holiday and seasonal menus.
  • Custom cake request form asking for event date, serving size, flavors, design notes, and a reference photo. Each request emails you and is saved in WordPress.
  • Photo gallery of past cakes with categories (weddings, birthdays, other).
  • Basics: Google Maps and hours, Instagram feed link, fast hosting setup, and search-friendly page titles.
  • Training: a 60-minute walkthrough for you and Luis, plus a short written guide.

Out of scope

These are good ideas, but they aren't part of this project. We can scope any of them as a second phase.

  • Point-of-sale integration. The site won't connect to your in-store register.
  • Shipping. No shipping rates or carrier setup; pickup only.
  • A full shop. No cart, checkout, or online payment. Cake requests are requests; you confirm and take payment as you do now.
  • Writing all your copy. We'll polish what you give us and write short page intros, but not a full content overhaul.
  • Ongoing marketing, such as email campaigns or paid ads.
